Lightning Activity Over Chilean Territory

چکیده

This work presents the spatial distribution and temporal variability of lightning activity over continental territory Chile by means Thunderstorms days (Td), on basis 7 years (2012–2018) measurement from World Wide Lightning Location Network (WWLLN). Td are obtained separately for 15 geopolitical regions Chile, reporting higher in northeastern region country with 85 thunderstorms per year. These values mainly located mountains between 2,000 5,000 m.a.s.l. where extensive mining is there electrical facilities great importance Chile. The this study update information presented Meteorological Organization (WMO) 1953, so far only one available entire Chilean territory. From diurnal cycle analysis, a marked mono-modal behavior afternoon latitudes S (regions XV, I, II) different X, XI, XII) known as Patagonia, due to special weather conditions that area. Further more, seasonal analysis showed highest occurs January February lowest takes place June August. Once again, Patagonia because May August, September. results here contribute knowledge has not been characterized before can serve future research determine natural phenomenon.
